In 2008, she (the CEO) and her husband (Scott Stokes, who is the COO) established a firm called Green Structural Homes in Huntsville that provided services in the disaster relief construction industry.

BARBARA STOKES, THE BRAINS BEHIND GREEN STRUCTURAL HOME.
Barbara Stokes is a graduate of Mercer University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and Physics. Also, she also studied manufacturing and management, technical communication, structures and properties of materials and thermodynamics. She is a wife, mother of three and a volunteer in the Huntsville community. After much experience at Pisces Corporation and Boeing, Barbara decided to venture into the Green Structural Homes. Having also worked in government contracting, this helped her focus on one need. The homes are made of wood and light gauge steel products to make it durable. They have real kitchens and bathrooms sometimes made of granite and marble to enable people to go on with their lives normally. Being customizable, they can be designed with multiple bedrooms based on occupants’ specification to meet any family size. The steel roof reflects the sun and allows insulation with the R-19 value which is used throughout the home to maintain a conducive environment indoors. The homes are constantly checked during construction and installation to verify their quality and to ensure they meet set standards.
